Winix AM90 Air Purifier Features and Specifications
Winix AM90 is a large unit and it feature physical dimensions of (L x W x H) 15.1 x 8.7 x 23.5 inches (~38.4 x 22.1 x 59.7 cm) and it weighs 16.5 pounds (~7.5 kg).
Air inlet is in front, while air exhaust is at the top of the unit, allowing the unit to be placed near the walls (12-18 inches is enough).
Winix AM90 air purifier is rated at 66 Watts.
Controls of the unit are on top of the unit and they allow the user to fully control the unit. However, Winix Smart App also comes with features that are not available via the unit's control panel.
Additionally, Winix AM90 supports the use of Amazon Alexa, while Winix Smart App also allows the user to enable Amazon Dash Replenishment, helping with the maintenance. 
The Control Panel of the Winix AM90 include:
- PlasmaWave indicator and control button.
- Odors sensor measure the air quality and in combination with Auto mode automatically sets the fan speed,
- Power button turns the unit On and Off.
- Fan Speed/Auto/Sleep buttons set the unit's fan speed and operating mode. Fan speeds include Auto, Low, Medium, High, Turbo, Sleep. When the unit is in Sleep mode, its noise levels are ~27 dB (almost silent) and may be used even in sleeping rooms.
Note: PlasmaWave is automatically turned off when the unit goes in Sleep Mode but can be activated again.
- Air Quality Indicator signals the detected air quality.
- WiFi indicator signals when the Winix Smart feature is enabled or not.
- WiFi Button is used for turning the WiFi feature On and Off and for pairing the unit with Winix Smart App.
- Sleep Mode indicator signals when the unit is in Sleep Mode.
- Filter Replacement Indicator signals the user when it is time to replace the air filter.
- Filter Replacement Reset Button allows the user to reset the Filter Replacement Indicator.
Note: Winix AM90 comes with many features and before the very first use, it is highly recommended to read the manual in order to get accustomed to your new unit. Also, be sure to remove air filters' protective plastic wrap.
Air filtration system features four stages, including:
- Pre-filter captures larger airborne particles and protects the rest of the filters.
- Activated Carbon air filter captures common household odors and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) - from cooking, smoking, pets, etc.
- True HEPA Air Filter captures 99.97% of 0.3 μm or larger airborne particles.
- PlasmaWave creates hydroxyls to neutralize bacteria and viruses. Since PlasmaWave technology creates minute amounts of ozone (but far below maximum allowed values), it can be turned off.
Air pre-filter should be cleaned every 2-3 weeks, depending on the air quality and unit's use.
But, the activated carbon air filter and the true HEPA air filters are NOT washable - the activated carbon air filter should be replaced every 3 months and the true HEPA air filter should be replaced every 12 months.
Note: When the unit arrives, the package contains one true HEPA air filter and four activated carbon air filters - enough for a year. Winix Filter A is a replacement filter set containing one true HEPA air filter and four activated carbon air filters and should be ordered after one year of Winix AM90 use - Winix AM90 comes with a 2-year limited warranty.
Winix AM90 is intended for living areas up to 360 sq. ft. (~33.5 m2) - it areas of that size, Winix AM90 can purify air up to 5 times per hour.
Its verified CADR ratings are 233 for dust, 240 for pollen, and 230 for smoke.
Long Story Short: Winix AM90 True HEPA Wi-Fi Air Purifier is a large and rather capable true HEPA air purifier that comes at a very acceptable price. Thanks to its features and its low maintenance costs, it is a very popular unit.
