GermGuardian AC4825 3-in-1 True HEPA Air Purifier is one of the best and most popular air purifiers on the market. And it is also rather stylish unit that can fit almost anywhere and comes at the great price. GermGuardian AC4825 is suitable for medium sized rooms with the area of up to 155 square feet (~14.4 square meters).

GermGuardian AC4825 Air Purifier dimensions are (W x D x H) 5.5 x 9 x 21.5 inches (~14 x 23 x 55 cm) and it weighs 7 pounds (~3.17 kg) and if required, it can be easily carried around. However, it should be placed on permanent position with at least one foot of free space from the front (air release) and back (air intake) of the unit.
Power cord is 6 feet (~1.83 m) long and perhaps could be longer. CADR rating of the GermGuardian AC4825 is 100+, but the manufacturer doesn't state for what kind of particles. Nonetheless, considering all other features, air filtration, price etc. this is very respectable CADR rating.

GermGuardian AC4825 Air Purifier is based on the triple (3-in-1) air purification system:
- first layer is based on mechanical air pre-filter, combined with the layer of activated carbon. Mechanical air pre-filter stops larger particles of dust, pet hair, lint, fibers and other similar debris, while activated carbon layer absorbs household odors (from kitchen and cooking, from pets, smoke etc.)
- second layer is true HEPA air filter which filters out smaller particles including common allergens like dust mites, pollen, pet dander etc.
Note: mechanical air pre-filter, activated carbon and true HEPA air filter are combined in one air filter, which is easy to replace when need it.
- third purification layer is based on UV-C lamp which sanitize air (it kills viruses and bacteria) and activates titanium dioxide layer which additionally decompose remaining odors caused by pets, cooking, smoking etc.
After passing through the unit, practically clean air is released back into the room.
GermGuardian AC4825 Air Filters
GermGuardian AC4825 is true HEPA air purifier - it filters out and retains 99.97% of 0.3 microns or larger particles that can cause alelrgies and other health issues. Also, thanks to activated carbon layer and UV-C lamp and titanium dioxide combination, it absorbs odors.
Depending on the use, filter should be replaced once every 6-8 months.
It is highly recommended to use only genuine GermGuardian air filter(s) since non-OEM filters can void warranty. Also, their use can lead to decreased air quality. Taking into account actual price of the genuine air filters and the fact that they last at least 6-8 months, the price of genuine air filters is just few US$ per month.
Personally, I would never jeopardize the functionality of such important home appliance in order to save a dollar or two per month ...
GermGuardian AC4825 uses 'one air filter', which is actually several filters combined in one spare part: mechanical pre-filter, activated carbon layer/filter and true HEPA air filter.
Such system significantly simplifies maintenance tasks. Also, unit features filter sensors and when the air filter is about to be replaced, green signal LED turns red.
Note: there are tow types of very similar genuine air filters for AC4825 unit:
- FLT4825 Filter-B True HEPA GENUINE Replacement Filter,
- FLT4850PT Filter-B-Pet True HEPA GENUINE Pet Pure Replacement Filter.
Main difference between these filters is that FLT4850PT Filter-B-Pet True HEPA GENUINE Pet Pure Replacement Filter also features so-called the 'Pet Pure' treatment, which is an antimicrobial agent added to the filter to inhibit the growth of mildew, mold and odor-causing bacteria on the filter surface, which can be very important when the filter is used for longer period of time.

GermGuardian AC4825 Controls
GermGuardian AC4825 controls are very simple and are positioned on top of the unit. Although the unit is very simple to use and maintain, it is highly recommended to read the manual/instructions thoroughly before first application.
Unit is turned on by turning the power knob clockwise - this turns on green power indicator on and sets the unit into the LOW power mode. By turning the power knob clockwise again, unit is set into MEDIUM or HIGH power mode (air flow mode).
When the unit operates in LOW power/air flow mode, it is very quiet and can be kept ON during night even when there are people or kids in the room, sleeping. Stronger power modes (Medium, High) are not as quiet as Low power mode, but they are still far from being noisy.
UV-C lamp has controls on its own and if desired, it can be kept OFF.

Unit comes with 3-year warranty, which is very good warranty period for the unit is this price range.
Long Story Short: GermGuardian AC4825 is very affordable air purifier that can help anyone with respiratory issues to keep his/her air clean and allergen free. It doesn't come with features commonly found on much more expensive models (WiFi connectivity, Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant compatibility and similar), but it is easy to use and low maintenance unit that purifies air very well.
