Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 Air Cleaner/Odor Reducer Features and Specifications
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 features sleek and stylish design and it is rather easy to fit it into any living area.
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 physical dimensions are (LxWxH) 9.97 x 9.92 x 26.81 inches (~25.3 x 25.2 x 68.1 cm) and it weighs 13.05 pounds (~5.9 kg).
Broader base of its tower design ensures good stability, but nonetheless, a push by a child or a pet can cause the unit to fall over - don't let the kids or pets play around the unit.
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 is not WiFi enabled unit and it can't be monitored not controlled using smartphone or tablet - this is actually the reason why this and similar models are still very popular.
Controls are positioned on the top of the unit and allow the user to control and monitor the unit via simple, but efficient touch screen controls.
Controls are simple and they include:
- Power On/Off Button is used for turning the unit on and off. When the unit starts, it starts in General purification mode.
- Auto-Off Timer Button allows the user to set automatic shutdown of the unit after 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 13 hours. This feature is commonly used when setting the unit to purifier air in the rooms during night.
- Purification Level Button allows the user to desired air purification level. Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 comes with 5 purification levels (hence the '5' as the part of the unit's label). These levels are:
Level 1 - Sleep Mode is ultra quiet and is commonly used during night. Also, many users set the unit to operate constantly in the Sleep Mode, purifying the air constantly.
Level 2 - Germ Mode is quiet mode with low air velocity, helping the air filters to capture small air pollutants, germs included.
Level 3 - General Mode balanced the air speed, noise and small particles capture ability. When the unit starts, it starts in the General Mode.
Level 4 - Allergen Mode is used in the season of airborne allergens. It ensures maximum air speed and volume with the unit's ability to capture airborne allergens.
Level 5 - Max Mode is used for quick air purification. Air is forced through the unit at the maximum speed, helping the user to purify desired area as quickly as possible.
If you are unsure, Sleep and General Modes are more than enough in most situations - turn on the unit and let it operate for few hours in General Mode and then set the Sleep Mode for weeks/months to come ...
- Oscillate Button is used for setting the side-to-side rotation. This feature help circulate cleaner and fresher air through the area where the unit is placed.
- Accent Light Button allows the user to set the bottom accent light. The Accent Light features three settings: Low, High and Off.
- Filter Status and Filter Reset Button help the user to monitor the filter status and to reset the status, when required.
Note: Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 is simple to use and maintain air purifier, but when the unit arrives, be sure to read the manual thoroughly.
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 has been AHAM certified for use in rooms up to 250 square feet (~23 m2) - if you intend to use it in smaller rooms, even better, since Sleep Mode can keep the air pollutants in check and the user can set the unit to operate and 'almost' forget about it.
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 CADR Ratings
The CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) indicates the volume of filtered air delivered by an air purifier and for the Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 CADR ratings are:
- Tobacco Smoke: 161

- Pollen: 170
Typical CADR ratings for home air purifiers vary from 50 to 400+, making the Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 mid-range air purifier.
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 Air Filtration
Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 captures 99.9% of 0.3 microns or larger particles, reducing the amount of air pollutants like dust (0.5 - 10 microns), pollen (10-100 microns), mold spores (5+ microns), bacteria (0.4+ microns) etc.
Air filtration is based on one pre-filter, QuietClean ifD air filter, and an electronic ionizer.
There are two optional Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 air pre-filters:
- washable pre-filter, or
- non-washable odor reducing Honeywell HRF-K2 air filter.
Obviously, the use of washable air pre-filter reduces operating costs to minimum, but Honeywell HRF-K2 is odor and gas reducing air pre-filter and is highly recommended not only for pet owners or smokers, but for all people that wants to improve air purification level and make their home safer to live.
Since Honeywell HRF-K2 is replaced when the main air filter is washed, it is relatively inexpensive - depending on the use and the amount of air pollutants, Honeywell HRF-K2 is replaced and the main air filter is washed every 3 months.
When rinsing/washing main air filter, be sure to follow the procedure from the unit's manual - don't use any harsh detergents, bleaches or anything similar.
When the main ifD filter is completely dry, assemble it back into the air purifier.
Note: never assemble the unit with the wet air filter(s) and never operate them with the wet filters. Again, Honeywell HFD320 AirGenius 5 air purifier can operate with only one(!) pre-filter, either washable air pre-filter OR Honeywell HRF-K2 air pre-filter! Do NOT use both of them.
