Main differences between 11S vs 11S MAX and 15C vs 15C MAX models are:
- redesigned air filtration with new unibody air filter,
- increased maximum suction from 1300 Pa to 2000 Pa, which is increase of ~50%.
Like their predecessors, 11S MAX and 15C MAX move around the home randomly, relying on their onboard sensors to navigate across the floors.
Eufy RoboVacs are intended for vacuuming various hard floors, low- and medium-pile carpets and area rugs. Due to their design, thick and fluffy carpets and area rugs may cause them to get stuck - their wheels sink into the soft surfaces and are unable to move the unit around.
When traversing different surfaces, both units feature maximum climb height of 0.63 inches (16 mm), allowing them to climb on and off the carpets and across similar floor obstacles.
Eufy RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX feature so-called 3-Point Cleaning System - they come with a pair of side brushes that clean edges, corners and on the both sides of the vacuum as it traverses forward, pushing the dirt toward the central brushroll which picks up dust, hair and other debris, which is than vacuumed into the unit via strong suction.
Maximum operating time of these robot vacuums on a single battery charge is 100 minutes - this is time measured on the hardwood floors, using standard suction mode.
When vacuuming carpets using BoostIQ mode, operating time is ~60 minutes and when vacuuming carpets using maximum suction, operating time is ~40 minutes.
Note: BoostIQ mode allows the unit to vacuum bare floors using standard suction mode and when the carpet is detected, unit automatically increases the suction to improve carpet vacuuming. This way, BoostIQ at the same time saves the energy stored in the battery (bare floors) and improve vacuuming (carpets, area rugs).
Both Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX are powered with 14.4 volts 2600 mAh lithium ion battery.
When units detect 'low battery event', they stop with the vacuuming, locate the charging base and automatically recharge. Since their navigation systems are rather simple, these units don't come with 'recharge and resume' feature.
When the battery is discharged, it takes approximately 5-6 hours to charge it again completely.
During operation, both units don't make much noise - the stronger the suction, more noise they make, but even in Max Suction Mode, they are rather quiet.
Dirt bin capacity is 0.6 liters, which is good capacity for the unit just 2.85 inches tall.
Although dirt bin can store plenty of dirt, it is recommended to schedule the cleaning on a daily basis (to keep the home as clean as possible) and to clean the dirt bin after each vacuuming.
While both units can be set to clean using controls on top of the unit, more features are available and easier set via IR remote control unit.
However, Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 15C MAX support WiFi connectivity and the best option is to install the Eufy Home App on a smartphone and use it to control and monitor the RoboVac 15C MAX.
Also, Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 15C MAX support the use of voice commands, Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant - not required of course, but for people having/building 'Smart Homes' it is an important feature.
Both Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX come with the full set of sensors to help them navigate your home. With the set of 10+ infrared sensors, units are aware of the obstacles around them and thanks to the cliff sensors, they can detect cliffs (stairs, for example) and prevent the unit from falling down.
Note: Cliff sensors have been improved over time, but dark/black carpets may cause 'false positive' events from cliff sensors. Thus, if you have black carpets and your robot vacuum (not just Eufy RoboVacs) is behaving oddly on such carpets, it is probably sensing false cliffs/stairs.
Since both Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX don't support the use of magnetic boundary strips, some users place non-glossy (matte) black duct tape on the area where they don't want their robot vacuums to go. While this is not supported by the manufacturers of vacuum cleaners, it may work surprisingly good. Personally, if you need this feature, consider RoboVacs that support magnetic boundary strips (RoboVac 30 and 30C, RoboVac 35C) or simply, close the door in order to prevent these vacuums from exiting specified area.
Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX Cleaning Modes
When vacuuming, Eufy Robovac 11S MAX and 15C MAX support several cleaning modes, including:
- automatic cleaning mode is the most common cleaning mode. In this mode, RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX optimize their cleaning path and selects different cleaning modes (Spot, Edge, random) automatically until the battery is almost discharged.
When the low-battery event occurs, units stop with the cleaning and return automatically to the charging base to recharge the battery.
Note: RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX don't support 'recharge and resume' option - when the battery is fully charged, units will wait until the next scheduled cleaning task.
- spot cleaning mode is used for cleaning areas with large amounts of dirt. Unit cleans required area by moving in spiral pattern.
- edge cleaning mode is used for vacuuming along the baseboards and wall edges.
- quick cleaning mode or single room cleaning mode lasts for 30 minutes and is used for vacuuming smaller areas, like single rooms. Since the battery is not fully discharged, this cleaning mode protects the battery and prolongs its operating life.
- manual cleaning mode can be achieved using directional buttons on the remote control in order to clean specific area.
Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX Maintenance
Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX are not maintenance free units. On the contrary, in order to have your robot vacuums operated at peak level, there are several things one must do:
- dirt bin: empty it after each use,
- air filter: clean it once or twice per week, depending on the RoboVac use and amount and type of vacuumed dirt. It is recommended to replace the air filter after 2 months of use.
- main brushroll should be cleaned weekly, especially if there are long-hair pets at home. Main brushroll should be replaced every 6-12 months.
- side brushes should be cleaned monthly, and replaced every 3-6 months, depending on their condition.
- brush guard should be cleaned every month and replaced every 3-6 months, depending on its condition.
- sensors, swivel wheel, charging pins and other parts should be cleaned every month.
Note: Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX are rather simple to use and maintain robot vacuum cleaners, but when they arrive, be sure to thoroughly read their manuals. Better safe than sorry!
Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX and 15C MAX come with 12 months limited warranty.
Long Story Short: If you are looking for mid-range, versatile robot vacuums that can make a difference, consider either Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX or 15C MAX.
Main difference among these models is that RoboVac 15C support the WiFi connectivity, can be set and controlled using Eufy Home App, and it supports the use of voice commands and Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Previous models of RoboVac 11 and 15 were well liked by their users and with much improved suction on the RoboVac 11S MAX or 15C MAX, there is no doubt that these models will be popular as well.
