Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool also known as Dyson Flatout Head Tool is designed for cleaning under low furniture and home appliances. Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool has very low profile, allowing it to reach and clean where most of the tools simply cannot due to their dimensions.

According to the manufacturer, Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool is compatible with all Dyson upright and canister vacuums - tool even includes an adaptor for connecting to the older Dyson uprights and canisters.
Note: Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool is not compatible with Dyson V7 and V8 cordless vacuums.
Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool features two sets of wheels: two large wheels clearly visible and two smaller ones below the cleaning head.
Also, the tool features two strips of soft 'padding' in front of and behind the suction inlet which is around 4.5 inches (~11.5 cm) wide. In order to increase the suction in front of the tool, the tool features two adjustments on both sides and suction channel along the entire width of the tool.
Whole tool is slightly less than 12 inches (~30 cm) wide.
Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool height is: 0.5 inches (~13 mm) on the edges, 1 inch (~25 mm) in the center, and 1.5 inches (~38 mm) main wheels.
Such flat design enables the tool to reach under beds, sofas, and similar furniture. Also, edges of the tool can reach (mostly) under home appliances, but whole tool generally can't be used for cleaning under ovens, fridges, etc.

Both tools achieve better cleaning results on the bare floors (tile, laminate, marble, hardwood etc.), but due to the specially designed soft bristles found on Dyson Articulating Hard Floor Tool, it is better cleaning tool than Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool, at least regarding cleaning of the surfaces that can be reached with Dyson Articulating Hard Floor Tool.
Dyson Flat Out Floor Tool has very low profile and can reach surfaces that Dyson Articulating Hard Floor Tool can't and clean them.
For example, height of central section of Flat Out Tool is 1 inch (1.5 inches where the wheels are) vs 2 inches of the Articulating Hard Floor Tool.
