Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums - NV200, NV201 and NV202 Models
Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums are corded, bagless upright vacuums with flexible extension cleaning hose. They feature Shark's so-called 'DuoClean Technology' - a dual-brushroll system with two brushrolls operating together to remove various types of dirt from both bare floors and carpets, including large and small particles, and stuck-on stubborn dirt.

Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums are relatively lightweight unit - they weigh 14.1 pounds (~6.4 kg) and thanks to advanced swivel mechanism, and not too wide main cleaning nozzle, they can easily maneuver around furniture, walls, corners and other potential obstacles.
To aid with cleaning in low light conditions and to help in spotting dirt, these models features strong LED headlights.
Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums have a completely sealed vacuuming system with a several mechanical air filters, including HEPA filter to trap dust, pollen, mites and other potential allergens.
Note: units are design to trap 99.9% of small particles inside the vacuum - they feature HEPA class air filtration between E12 and H13 classes, while 'true' HEPA air filtration captures 99.97% of 0.3 microns or larger particles (between H13 and H14 classes). Nonetheless, air filtration is very good, very important not only for people with pets, or health issues but for all people in general who like to keep their homes clean.
Mechanical filters are washable, just be sure not to assemble or use the unit with wet filters and be sure NOT to use the unit without the filters. Also, HEPA filter should be washed using only water, without no detergents or soaps of any kind.

Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums are powered using 5.4 Amps (650 W) motor which provides plenty of suction. Power cord is 'only' 25 feet long, but don't forget that not only the flexible extension hose and wand extend the cleaning range, but they also help with the cleaning elevated surfaces, too.
Power cord is stored by wrapping it around the cord hooks - automatic power cord rewind system would be nice, but 25 feet long power cord is not too long to absolutely require such system.
DuoClean Technology combines a bristle brush for deep cleaning of carpeted floors, and an additional soft brushroll to pick up larger particles and directly engage floors for a polished look. Note that the brushrolls cannot be raised - when using vacuum cleaner with DuoClean Technology on hard/bare floors, unit should be set to the bare floor/hard floor setting. This setting slows down the brushroll, making the cleaning safe to use on bare/hard floors.
Note: Just to be sure, always check the unit on a smaller area - better safe than sorry. Also, before the first use, be sure to thoroughly read the manual. To avoid damaging the floors, the brushrolls will spin only when the vacuum handle is tilted back.
Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums can be used in three modes:
- classic upright vacuum cleaner mode - unit is used for cleaning floors just like any other regular upright vacuum cleaner,
- above-floor mode - unit is used like canister vacuum cleaner and the cleaning itself is done using flexible extension hose with or without the cleaning wand. Instead of using main cleaning nozzle, various cleaning attachments are used for cleaning elevated surfaces,
- lift-away mode - cleaning pod is detached from the rest of the body, allowing great freedom when cleaning harder to reach surfaces like stairs, cars, boats, corners and similar.
Cleaning Attachments
Cleaning attachments depend on the model - if some of them are required later, they can be ordered separately.
- Duster Crevice Tool is two cleaning tools combined in one. Crevice tool extends the cleaning reach and enables the access to small and narrow areas and spaces, while the soft
dusting brush gently cleans a multitude of surfaces.
- Pet Multi-Tool is one another 2-in-1 cleaning tool. A stiff bristle brush is used for cleaning stubborn dirt and debris. When the bristles are removed, an upholstery tool is revealed, which is used for removing stubborn pet hair
and lint from furniture, stairs, upholstery and similar surfaces.
- Pet Power Brush is designed to pick up deeply embedded pet hair and other dirt from various surfaces - very useful tool not only for pet owners.
- Multi-Angle Dusting Brush is a multi-position soft dusting brush, specially designed for cleaning blinds, books, walls, ceiling fans, windowsills, tops of furniture and similar, often hard-to-reach surfaces.
- Dusting Brush is designed to clean hard surfaces and upholstery.
- Wide Upholstery Tool is designed for cleaning dust, crumbs, pet hair, lint and fibers from furniture and other upholstered surfaces, including even carpeted stairs.
- 12" (30.5 cm) Crevice Tool helps with cleaning tight and narrow spaces and areas like between seats and mattresses, along the baseboards, in the corners and similar. If 12" is too short, there is also an 18" (~46 cm) version, which must be ordered separately.
Long Story Short: Shark DuoClean Slim Upright Vacuums are compact uprights with additional cleaning hoses. They are not cheap, but certainly far from being expensive vacuums that will bust Your budget.
Thanks to the DuoClean main cleaning nozzle, cleaning hose and available attachments, three available cleaning modes, good suction and air filtration, they are suitable as the main vacuum cleaners in homes and apartments.
