Kenmore 31220 Pet-Friendly CrossOver Max Upright Vacuum is a full-size, convertible upright vacuum cleaner that is designed as the main vacuum cleaner even in large homes and apartments.

Kenmore 31220 can be used as a classic upright vacuum cleaner for vacuuming both bare floors and carpeted areas, but thanks to the Lift-Up technology, long flexible cleaning hose, cleaning wand, and the set of cleaning attachments, Kenmore 31220 is also suitable for vacuuming of elevated surfaces, including stairs, furniture, drapes, bookshelves, beds, etc.

Kenmore 31220 Pet-Friendly CrossOver Max Features and Specifications

Kenmore 31220 Pet-Friendly CrossOver Max comes with two electric motors, including one suction motor and one brushroll motor.

Unit is rated at 11 Amps @120V (~1300 watts) ensuring plenty of suction across its 13 inches (~33 cm) wide cleaning path.

The actual suction strength is ~195 Air Watts with an airflow of ~56 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute). Kenmore 31220 comes with a suction control system, allowing the user to vacuum various surfaces, even very sensitive ones.

Also, Kenmore 31220 comes with a safety valve that opens the airflow to the motor, if there is a clog or blockage of some type in the system, helping with the motor's cooling.

Just in case, the main suction motor comes with thermal protection that shuts off the motor if its internal temperature rises above a certain level, despite the safety valve.

The power cord itself is 30 feet (~9.15 m) long, providing a long cleaning reach using just one wall power socket. Since Kenmore 31220 comes with 9 feet (~2.7 m) long flexible cleaning hose and telescopic wand, the actual cleaning reach is even longer.

Kenmore 31220 weighs 17 pounds (~7.7 kg), but with the most weight being on the floor, it can be easily moved around.

The main cleaner head features a cleaning width of 13 inches (~33 cm) and thanks to the strong suction and rotating brushroll, helps the user to vacuum large areas rather quickly.

The main cleaner head also features a rotating brushroll motor foot-operated On/Off switch, allowing the user to safely vacuum both bare floors and carpeted areas. Another switch on the main cleaner head (right one, looked from the user's position) is used to reset the brushroll motor - if there is a clog or something similar that blocks brushroll, the brushroll motor is turned off automatically to prevent any damage.

When the clog from the brushroll is removed, the user can easily reset the brushroll motor.

The main cleaner head also features a full swivel neck, ensuring good maneuverability over different surfaces. But, due to its width, the main cleaner head sometimes can't reach areas under or around certain objects and obstacles - in that case, simply detach the cleaning hose and wand and clean areas that the main cleaner head can't reach.

The main cleaner head doesn't feature LED headlights, which can be rather helpful when vacuuming in low light conditions.

The dirt cup is translucent and features a capacity of ~1.8 liters and a bottom emptying system, which allows the user to empty the dirt cup directly into the trashcan.

Air filtration is excellent - Kenmore 31220 is a true HEPA vacuum cleaner, being able to capture up to 99.97% of 0.3 µm or larger particles, including pollen, dust, pet dander, bed bugs, etc., which can be very important for pet owners, and allergy sufferers.

The air filtration system is based on the cyclonic action and triple mechanical air filters, including air pre-filter, primary air filter, and HEPA exhaust air filter.

Air pre-filter and primary air filter are washable, while HEPA exhaust air filter is NOT washable.

Note: after washing air filters, be sure to dry them thoroughly before assembling them back into the unit.
