Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is a compact, autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner designed as improved version of its predecessor RoboVac 11S. Eufy RoboVac 12 features very low height, a set of environment sensors required for proper cleaning, self-recharging, automatic suction boost (BoostIQ technology) etc.

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 doesn't feature WiFi connectivity and it doesn't support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, but many people consider such simplicity a 'plus', not a 'minus' for this and similar units.

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 Features and Specifications

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 is very compact unit - its diameter is 12.8 inches (~32.5 cm) and its height is 2.85 inches (~7.3 cm). Such low height enables the unit to crawl and clean under most beds, sofas, furniture and similar objects.

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 is also very light unit weighing just 5.73 pounds (~2.6 kg) and if or when required, it can be easily carried around - usually back to the docking/charging station.

Note: Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 12 does feature automatic docking and recharging, but it doesn't come with advanced navigation system that would include mapping and cleaning path planning.

When the unit arrives, the box contains IR remote control (2 AAA batteries included), charging base, AC power adapter, cleaning tool, extra set of high-performance filters, 4 side brushes, 5 cable ties, and the welcome guide.

Eufy RoboVac 12 features 2600 mAh lithium ion battery whcih provides enough energy for up to 100 minutes of operation on a single battery charge - on the bare floors, without using the BoostIQ feature.

In real life, operating time depends on the floors, amount of dirt, condition of the filters and similar. But generally, one can expect at least 60-70 minutes of operation.

Eufy RoboVac 12 is designed for cleaning bare floors, low- and medium-pile carpets. High-pile carpets and thick area rugs can cause issues to this and other robot vacuum cleaners - robot's wheels sink into the carpet/rug and the units get stuck.

Best cleaning results are achieved on the low-pile carpets and bare floors like hardwood, ceramic tile, marble, vinyl, laminate, linoleum and similar.

Note: Eufy RoboVac 12 is simple to use and maintain robot vacuum cleaner, but before the very first use, be sure to read the welcome guide thoroughly.

Eufy RoboVac 12 uses two side brushes to sweep the dirt and push it toward the main suction inlet, where the dirt is being picked up using main brushroll and strong suction.

Since Eufy RoboVac 11+, Eufy robotic vacuums feature so-called BoostIQ technology. Eufy RoboVac 12 comes with 2nd BoostIQ, allowing the unit to boost its suction up to 1500 Pa within 1.5 seconds after detecting increased amount of dirt.

During operation, Eufy RoboVac 12 is relatively quiet unit creating ~55 dB of noise.

Air filtration is good, which is very important, especially for people with breathing issues, allergies and similar.

Eufy RoboVac 12 comes with triple-filter system. Mesh filter screen filters out larger particles, while foam filter and pleated paper filter captures smaller particles of dust and other dirt.

Mesh filter screen and the foam filter are washable, while paper pleated air filter is NOT washable.

When washing mesh filter screen and the foam filter, be sure to dry them thoroughly before reassembling them back into the unit. Pleated air filter can be periodically tapped onto the inner side of the trash can and/or vacuumed using general vacuum cleaner.

After some time the foam filter and the pleated filter should be replaced with the new filters which can be ordered online.

Dirt bin capacity is 0.6 liters which is good for the robot vacuum of this dimensions.

Note that Eufy RoboVac 12 doesn't feature 'full dirt bin' or similar sensors and it is up to the user to check and if/when required to empty the dirt bin.

Personally, if you have scheduled a daily cleaning routine, it is good practice to empty the dirt bin on a daily schedule, too.

Eufy RoboVac 12 Cleaning Modes

Eufy RoboVac 12 features several cleaning modes, including Auto, Edge, Spot and Single room.

In Auto cleaning mode unit automatically traverse the area and vacuum; In Edge cleaning mode, unit follows the walls' edges; in Spot cleaning mode unit moves in spiral pattern and vacuums the areas with larger amounts of dirt; in Single room mode unit cleans smaller area and returns to the charging station.

In order to sense its environment, Eufy RoboVac 12 comes with the set of sensors, including infra red (IR) sensors to avoid bumping into the objects and cliff sensors to avoid falling off the cliffs (stairs, for example).

Note: Eufy RoboVac 12 can find the docking/charging station, dock and recharge automatically, but in order to do that it is very important to position the docking station with the free 3-4 feet at both sides and some 5-6 feet free are in front of it.

Also, it is good practice to remove all loose cables and thick carpets (at least thicker than 0.63 inches), since Eufy RoboVac 12 can try to climb onto them and then it can get stuck.

In order to contain the unit to certain area, one has to close the door, or (this is not officially supported) to set the black/dark matte duct tape onto the floor - when the Eufy RoboVac 12 approaches, its cliff sensors 'detects' the cliff and prevent the unit from crossing the cliff (in this case dark matte duct tape). Again, this is just an improvisation and due to the improved cliff sensors, there is not warranty that it will work :)

As one can see, Eufy RoboVac 12 is very similar to Eufy RoboVac 11S, except that Eufy RoboVac 12 features stronger suction (1500 vs 1300 Pa).

Long Story Short: Eufy RoboVac 12 is simple to use and maintain robotic vacuum cleaner with strong suction and good air filtration. It doesn't feature WiFi connectivity, it doesn't support Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant and few more advanced features, but this simplicity is considered by many users as an advantage, not disadvantage.

Eufy RoboVac 12 can be set to clean on a daily schedule or can be manually controlled using IR remote control. Although Eufy RoboVac 12 does its job well, it can't replace the main home vacuum cleaner - but it can help in keeping the home clean and pleasant to live in.

Despite protective anti-scratch tempered glass-top cover, don't use it (or any other similar model) to transport pets and/or drinks around the house :)
