 Dirt Devil Endura Reach Features and Specifications

Dirt Devil UD20124 is rated at 8 Amps, featuring plenty of suction across its 11 inches (~28 cm) wide cleaning path. Main cleaner head features rotating brushroll which does a good job on both carpeted areas and bare floors. However, it would be nice to have brushroll switch/selector to turn the brushroll ON or OFF and perhaps to set the brushroll speed.

Brushroll is of rather conventional design, doing rather good job. On the other hand, it doesn't feature mechanism for automatic removal of tangled hair, lint and fibers and that must be done manually by the user.

Main cleaner head doesn't feature height adjustment system, but it keeps the suction rather well on various floor types.

Note: Although the brushroll can't be turned off, it is gentle even on the sensitive bare floors. But, just in case, it is recommended to make a test on a small surface. Dirt Devil UD20124 is simple to use and maintain vacuum cleaner, but before the very first use, be sure to read the manual.

Power cord is 20 feet (~6.1 m) long and it is kind of short. But, Dirt Devil UD20124 is intended for smaller homes and apartments, it doesn't have automatic power cord rewind system (it is easier to manually wrap 20 feet power cord than 30-35 feet long power cord) and it also features flexible cleaning hose with extension wand that enables the vacuuming of elevated surfaces and extends the reach for additional 10 feet (~3.05 m).

Dirt Devil UD20124 weighs only 9 pounds (~4.1 kg) and although it doesn't feature full swivel mechanism, it is very maneuverable unit.

For cleaning elevated surfaces, Dirt Devil UD20124 comes with 2-in-1 cleaning tool, which combines crevice tool and dusting brush in one tool.

Crevice tool is used for vacuuming tight and narrow spaces, like edges, corners, between seats and mattresses and other similar awkward to reach and clean surfaces.

Dusting brush features bristles that agitate the surface dirt, which is than vacuumed inside the unit. Dusting brush does a good job, but it is not large/wide enough to warrant quick dusting of large(r) surfaces.

Dirt bin is transparent and detachable from the unit. It features capacity of 1.5 liters and bottom emptying system, allowing the user to empty the dirt bin directly into the trash can.

Air filtration is good and is based on the cyclonic action and several mechanical air filters.

Note: in order for the cyclonic action to work properly, the dirt bin must NOT be filled above the Max Fill line.

Pre-motor air filter is a combination of foam filter and pleated filter, while post-motor exhaust filter is another pleated filter.

All filters are washable using running water - after washing, be sure to thoroughly dry all the filters and other washed components. Since Dirt Devil UD20124 is designed for dry dirt only, filters must be fully dried before reinstalling back into the unit. Never, but really never operate unit with wet/moist filters or without filters - such operation can damage the unit and render the 1-year warranty void.

 Dirt Devil Endura Reach, model UD20124, is designed as an entry level upright vacuum cleaner with additional cleaning hose and wand.

It is lightweight unit, being able to clean various surfaces commonly found at homes and apartments, even up to the ceiling.

However, it lacks many features, like adjustable main cleaner head height, LED headlight, more versatile cleaning tool set, longer power cord, automatic power cord rewind system, brushroll ON/OFF etc. Also, whole unit could be more robust.

But, for the money one has to pay for the unit, one can't ask for more - Dirt Devil UD20124 Endura Reach does its job, but one also must be aware of its limitations.
