Bissell 24619 Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus Features and Specifications
Bissell 24619 is designed for powerful cleaning of pet and human hair, lint, fibers, but also other types of dirt from various surfaces often found at homes and apartments.
Bissell 24619 feature two motors, one main motor for creating suction and second motor for powering main cleaner head and tangle-free brushroll.
During operation, unit draws 7 Amps of current (840 watts), creating strong suction. Bissell 24619 is powered via rather long 30 feet (~9.15 m) power cord. To extend the reach and enable the user to clean elevated surfaces, Bissell 24619 also features 7 feet (~2.1 m) long flexible cleaning hose, for 37+ feet (11+ m) long reach using just one wall power socket.
Bissell 24619 doesn't feature automatic power cord rewind system - power cord is manually wrapped around cord wrap hooks for storage.
Unit weighs 14.5 pounds (~6.57 kg) and it is not the lightest upright on the market. But, thanks to the swivel design, large wheels and the fact that most of the weight is low on the ground, unit is very maneuverable and easy to use.
Main cleaner head is 12 inches (30.5 cm) wide, allowing the user to clean large area quickly. Although there are no side brushes, uncleaned area on the both sides of the cleaner head is rather narrow.
However, brushroll belt is placed within the brushroll width, creating narrow gap where bristles don't clean, requiring the user to make at least two passes over the same area - which is not of an issue in a real life, but it is more than worth mentioning.
Brushroll is of tangle-free design, which works very well, saving time and effort of the users - nonetheless, from time to time really stubborn hair and fibers must be manually cleaned.
Unit controls include power on/off switch, brushroll on/off switch and suction power controls.
Bissell 24619 is designed for cleaning various floor types, including area rugs, bare floors, carpets, stairs, pet beds, upholstery, sealed hard floors, etc. and having brushroll on/off switch is very important in order to protect delicate surfaces.
Note: when the unit is in upright position, brushroll doesn't spin, not even when the brushroll on/off switch is set to 'On'. Only when the unit is tilted backwards, brushroll starts to spin. Bissell 24619 is easy to use and maintain unit, but just in case, before the very first use, be sure to read the manual thoroughly.
Dirt bin capacity is 0.75 liters up to the Max Fill line. Dirt bin can hold slightly more, but air flow and thus cleaning performances and air filtration are compromised.
Dirt bin is transparent, allowing the user to see amount and type of picked up dirt. Thanks to the bottom emptying system, dirt bin can be emptied quickly and easily, without touching the dirt or making a mess.
Bissell 24619 upright feature so-called SmartSeal Allergen System, which doesn't allow sucked air to leak out of the unit without being filtered first.
Air filtration is good, and it is based on cyclonic action and several mechanical air filters:
- pre-motor filters include felt and foam washable filters. These filters can be washed using mild detergents, just be sure to dry them properly before assembling the unit - never use the vacuum with moist filters or no filters at all.
- post-motor pleated air filter, which is not washable. When post-motor gets dirty, tap it on the inside of the trash can and replace when required, generally after 3-6 months.
In order to increase the feeling of freshness and cleanness, Bissell 24619 may use optional Febreeze air filter, which removes the odors and freshens the air released into the vacuumed area.
Having clean filters is very important since dirty filers cause suction to drop and decrease the air flow.
Bissell 24619 features main motor thermal protection - when the air flow is decreased, or there is a jam or clog of some kind within the vacuum, main motor temperature will rise and in order to protect the unit, thermal protection will turn off main motor. Brushroll will continue to spin (if it is turned on), but there will be no suction.
If that occurs, turn off the unit, unplug it from the wall, remove any clogs or jams, empty the dirt bin and check the filters. After some 30-35 minutes, thermal protection will automatically reset itself and the user may continue with the cleaning tasks.
For this and other procedures, check the manual. If thermal protection is happening frequently, there might be something wrong with your unit - check the manual for proper cleaning and maintaining procedures and if that doesn't help, call the customer care.
Bissell 24619 Cleaning Tools and Attachments
Bissell 24619 comes with several cleaning tools, designed for cleaning various surfaces in combination with the flexible cleaning hose.
Cleaning tools are carried onboard the unit and they include:
- Crevice Tool with LED Lights is used for cleaning narrow and tight areas and gaps. LED lights help with cleaning in low light conditions and for spotting hair, dust and similar dirt on bare floors.
- 2-in-1 Pet Dusting Brush may use rubber nubs for cleaning stubborn stains and pet hair, while soft bristles can be used for cleaning sensitive areas.
- Pet TurboEraser Tool is small motorized cleaning tool and is used for cleaning pet and human hair, fibers and other dirt from smaller carpeted and upholstered surfaces. Pet TurboEraser Tool also features tangle-free brushroll, but nonetheless, from time to time user has to manually remove really stubborn hair and lint.
Whit the main powered cleaner head and three available cleaning tools, Bissell 24619 can be used as the main vacuum cleaner even in larger homes and apartments, pets present or not.
