Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser includes several Bissell's cleaning technologies and improvements over previous models, making it one of the preferred models for people having stubborn dirt to clean, including parents and pet owners.
Most important technologies and improvements include:
- SmartSeal Allergen System ensures that no air leaks out of the vacuum before being filtered out first. Although Bissell doesn't state the actual HEPA level of the Bissell 1650A vacuum, air filtration is rather good.
- Febreze Pet Odor Eliminator post-motor air filter not only that captures very fine dirt, it also release the pleasant scent into the cleaned area, increasing the feeling of freshness. Bissell 1650A by default comes with 'common' post-motor air filter.
- Cyclonic Spooling System ensures that lint, fibers and hair are spooled by cyclonic action in the dirt cup and that they are easy to empty, without the user's need to touch the vacuumed dirt in any moment.
- Tangle-Free Brushroll is designed to limit pet and human hair wrap around the motorized brushroll and it does very good job. However, from time to time, user has to remove the brushroll from the unit and remove the hair and lint manually.
Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser is self standing unit, helping the user with the storage. Power controls are on the body of the vacuum, easily reachable by the user and they include:
- Power On/Off switch,
- Brushroll On/Off Switch.
When the unit is turned on in the upright position, brushroll is not engaged even if it is turned on. In order for brushroll to start to spin, the user must tilt the unit backwards - such system protects the floors from brushroll damage when the unit is in the upright position (cleaning with the wand, cleaning break and similar).
Main cleaner head also features height adjustment system using rotating knob, which is positioned low on the cleaner head - this can be of an issue for a people with lower back issues.
Note: Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser is relatively large vacuum cleaner with many options, but nonetheless it is easy to use and maintain. Just in case, when the unit arrives, be sure to read the manual in order to get accustomed to your new vacuum cleaner.
Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser is intended for cleaning of the various floors, including hardwood floors, tiles, carpets, area rugs and similar - when cleaning sensitive floors, turn off the brushroll.
To help the unit clean edges, main cleaner head comes with the edge bristles on both sides of the main cleaner head, leaving no area uncleaned.
Bissell 1650A doesn't feature suction control - proper air flow is required for cyclonic air filtration system to operate properly, but also large air volume is required for suction motor cooling.
If the unit is hard to push-pull during the cleaning, increase the main cleaner head.
Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser weighs 18 pounds (~8.2 kg) and is not the lightest unit in its class. However, when the main cleaner head is properly set, thanks to the transport wheels and swiveling mechanism, Bissell 1650A is very maneuverable vacuum cleaner, being able to clean large area quickly.

Motor comes with thermal protection system - when the motor's temperature starts to rise, motor is turned off automatically. If/When this happens, turn off the unit, unplug it from the mains power, remove any clogs from the air pathways, check air filters and after cooling it down for at least 30 minutes, use it freely.

Power cord is 30 feet (~9.1 m) long ensuring that the user can clean large area without interruptions using single wall power socket.
Due to its design, Bissell 1650A doesn't come with automatic power cord rewind system - power cord is manually wrapped around cord wrap hoods by the user.
Dirt bin is translucent, allowing the user to see type and amount of picked up dirt. Dirt bin capacity is 1.5 liters, allowing the user to vacuum large area without the interruptions.
Dirt cup is detachable from the unit and it features bottom emptying system, which helps the user to quickly and easily empty the dirt directly into the trashcan.

Air filtration is good, although the actual HEPA level is not known.
Air filtration is based on the cyclonic action and several mechanical air filters.
Two washable foam pre-motor air filters protect the motor from the vacuumed dirt.
These filters are washable using mild detergent - after washing, be sure to let them air dry properly for at least 24 hours. Never reinstall the moist air filters since such filters can damage the unit and void its 5-year limited warranty.
Post-motor exhaust air filter filters out very small particles of dust and other dirt. This air filter is not washable, but the user can periodically tap it onto the inner surface of trash can in order to remove the loose dirt.
Ordinary post-motor air filter can be replaced with Febreze Pet Odor Eliminator air filter, which eliminates pet odors and release the pleasant scent in the vacuumed area.
Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser Cleaning Tools and Accessories
Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser main cleaner head is used for cleaning various types of floors. In order to clean elevated surfaces, Bissell 1650A comes with several, very useful cleaning tools and accessories.
- Quick Release Wand is used for cleaning elevated surfaces, using 8 feet (~2.44 m) long, flexible cleaning hose. When using Quick Release Wand, main body is in upright position, and spinning brushroll is turned off automatically (if the brushroll switch is set to clean carpets).
- 2-in-1 Pet Brush features two types of brushes: rubber fingers/bristles for removing stubborn pet hair and similar dirt and soft dusting brush for dusting delicate surfaces.
- LED-Lit Crevice Tool uses two non-rechargeable 3.0 volts lithium CR1632 batteries for powering LED lights found on the Crevice Tool. Such LED lights help significantly when cleaning tight and narrow areas in low light conditions.
- Pet TurboEraser Tool features small air turbine (hence the name) that powers small brushroll, designed for picking up of the pet and human hair, lint, fibers, crumbs, dust and other, often stubborn dirt. This is not maintenance free tool and it is up to the user to periodically clean the tool from tangled hair and stuck on debris.
