BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 is versatile 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner, combining stick and handheld vacuum in a single unit. As a cordless stick vacuum, it features lightweight design, relatively good and adjustable suction, efficient brushroll, swivel mechanism etc. As a cordless handheld unit, it can be used for cleaning various types of debris, especially in emergencies, using crevice tool and dusting brush.
BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 is powered via 20 V lithium ion battery, providing enough energy for at least 25-30 minutes of operation on a single battery charge. Operating time depends on vacuuming mode (stick/handheld), suction strength, if the brushroll is turned on or off and similar, but generally, BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 doesn't have issues with vacuuming entire smaller home or apartment.
BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 features auto-suction adjustment (again, it is 'auto-suction' NOT 'auto-height' adjustment) for cleaning different types of floors, allowing the unit to be used for cleaning bare floors, low- and high-pile carpets and area rugs.
Also, for vacuuming sensitive floors, user can manually turn off brushroll, and for cleaning extra dirty areas, user can turn on suction boost as required. Main cleaning head features swivel steering design, allowing the user to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles quickly and easily.

When unit arrives, the box includes jack plug charger, extendable crevice tool, brush attachment and filters.
Main cleaning head is 9.5 feet (~24 cm) wide, allowing the user to clean relatively large area quickly. In stick mode, unit weighs 9 pounds (~4.5 kg), but since the most of the weight is resting on the floor, unit is lightweight and very maneuverable.
When discharged, lithium ion battery requires 4-5 hours to recharge fully. Also, unit is shipped with semi-discharged battery (safety reasons) and it must be fully recharged for 4 hours before the very first use.

Dust bin is transparent, allowing the user to see type and amount of vacuumed dirt. Dust bin capacity is 0.5 liters, which isn't much, but for vacuums in this class, this is more than acceptable size.
Dust bin can be emptied quickly and easily and IMHO, it should be emptied after each use.
Air filtration is not true HEPA, but generally it is good. Air filtration is based on cyclonic action and mechanical air filters. Dust bin, plastic pre-filter and cloth/pleated filters are washable using warm, mild-soapy water, decreasing the maintenance costs significantly.
Note: after washing, be sure to thoroughly dry filters for at least 24 hours. Never assemble the unit with wet filters and never use it without filters.
Since pleated filter is not expensive, some users have at least 1 spare filter - when the filter gets dirty, they replace it with washed one and wash and dry the dirty one.
BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 also has an optional scented air filter which is standard air filter, but with additional aroma/scent that is left in the cleaned area to increase the feeling of freshness.
Obviously, scented air filter is not washable. Also, when it is no longer releasing the scent, it is time to replace it.
Although washable, air filter should be replaced every 6-9 months, or if/when damaged or worn down.
Replacement filters are pleated filter VPF20 and plastic pre-filter VSPF10XX, where 'XX' indicates the specific scent.
BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 comes with two year limited warranty, which is very good for a vacuum of this type and price range.
Long story short: BLACK+DECKER HSVJ520JMBF27 is affordable and versatile 2-in-1 cordless vacuum. It can be used for everyday cleaning and for cleaning in emergencies by adults, elderly people and even children (under supervision of adults, of course).
It can be used as the main vacuum cleaner in smaller homes and apartments and as second vacuum cleaner in large homes. Since it can be connected indefinitely with the battery charger, unit can 'wait' ready to be used at the moment notice fully charged.
